About the Role

Cairns Private Hospital has a key leadership opportunity for an experienced Perioperative nurse to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

We are looking for a Nurse who thrives by responding to challenges, working within a multidisciplinary team, and will be committed to upholding and promoting the Ramsay Way core values

This role will see you running the day-to-day operations of the Anaesthetic Department and Recovery Room, including but not limited to:

• Acting as a professional resource and demonstrating broad knowledge and clinical expertise in all aspects of critical care nursing practice
• Demonstrating a high level of critical thinking and problem solving skills within the clinical setting
• Oversee and encourage ongoing professional development and upskilling of existing clinical team members
• Supervising and supporting staff within the unit
• Participate in Quality improvement Programs in line with organisational and departmental strategic plans.

About You

You will be a trained nurse with exceptional customer service, confident communication, and strong interpersonal skills. You will also demonstrate:

• Relevant registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 5 years’ post graduate experience in Recovery/Anaesthetics/PACU
• Hold or working towards post graduate qualification in anaesthetic and/or recovery.
• Ability to manage designated portfolio and display strong leadership skills.
• Well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and material resources
• A passion for mentoring junior team members and positively influencing their performance

Highly desirable:

• Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment
• Completed Preceptorship program

• Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
